Science in Silico

Hurray, I got a clip into Seed magazine's tribute to computational science. Here's a link to the little page I made about the data years ago. The data is an Egyptian priest mummy provided by Bill Lorensen at GE. Enjoy.

Powers of 10

Nikon (of all people) have an elegant flash app that covers a few powers of 10, actually quite a few. Surprized that I haven't seen this before, as it orginates in way back 2005. That's 1.1758x1013 miles ago at the speed of light. However, few attempts have even come close to the elegant Eames Powers of Ten.

Ryden opening review

The LA Weekly has a review of the recent Ryden collection opening, "The Tree Show". Ryden is a flagship of Lowbrow art. I would say is one of the most frequently imitated artists these days. He is a precise and skilled painter with a sensibility for the surreal. The centerpiece "The Tree of Life" sold for 800k!

Super Favorite Illustration Blog

Bibliodyssey has some of the most fantastic old-timey illustrations collected in one place. I have a large collection of these (scattered over numerous hard-drives), it's about to get a whole lot bigger....

Usefull source of images...

Wiki commons has lots of images (some are actually good) both vector and raster. All of which embrace copy-lefts (CC).

Robo-starfish

Cornell researchers develop a robotic design that "self determines" its shape and locomotion. Nice use of A-Life in R-Life.

New Gengap

I like the explanation of the new generation gap over at New York Magazine. Motivates me just a little to try out second life, facebook, and all that other "trendy web stuff". Might just have to start a blog....
